About the Area

Dusty Miller

The Dusty Miller from the waterside showing the lift hoist and door of the original mill.

Wrenbury is a typical rural Cheshire village with a village green. There is a church dating back to 1500, and also a thriving shop and post office which stocks most basic items. Why not visit the Wrenbury Village Website to find out more, using the link provided on our links page.

The Dusty Miller is a short walk from the village green, just three metres from the Shropshire Union Canal!

The canal creates much interest with a constant stream of boats slipping through the Lift Bridge on their journey to and from Llangollen.

Uniquely, the River Weaver runs under the canal through a Thomas Telford designed aqueduct and alongside the Dusty Miller. At this point, the river once provided a millrace for the Dusty Miller building, when in years gone by it was used to mill corn.

This is an ideal area for walking with many footpaths and towpaths to meander through at your leisure. For a more structured walk, why not use one of our ready made walk guides available at the bar? Alternatively you may print it from this website using the link below. Dogs are welcome in our tiled bar and we have short-stay kennels for very wet and muddy canine visitors!

Quiet, fairly flat country lanes provide cyclists with an opportunity to take in the sights at a leisurely pace, why not take a look at the Sustrans Website. The Cheshire Cycleway passes straight by the Dusty Miller and remember, there is free tea and coffee for CTC members. Why not try one of our cycle routes by using one of the links below?
