Dusty Miller Dog Walk
Distance less than two miles
Time one hour approximately
Directions
Turn left out of the Dusty Miller and walk along the canal towpath, pass the garden nurseries and the wooden lift- up bridge built by Thomas Telford in the latter part of the 19th century.
The next landmark is Thomasons Bridge, a stone construction and number 22 on this leg of the Shropshire union canal. Pass under the bridge and cross the stile immediately on your left. There is a dog pop-hole to the right of the stile.
Cross over the bridge and head up the track parallel to the barbed wire. The path turns slightly right to a stile in the corner of the next field. Climb the stile and turn left along the road.
After a few strides, pass the two cottages and cross the next stile on the right. Head for a lone oak tree ahead of you. A few paces on from the tree there is another stile nestling in the fence on the right. Cross this and follow the line of small oak trees to a further stile and water trough.
Carry on in a straight line and climb the next stile. The path should now follow the right hand perimeter of the field past a pit to the stile and gate in the top corner.
Turn right onto the road, crossing the River Weaver and return to the Dusty Miller crossing the lift bridge.
Please keep dogs on a lead on the road and near livestock.
Dogs may have to be lifted over some stiles
